Product Care

I hope you will get many years of use from any of my products with minimum maintenance.

All my products are made from natural wood, so soaking in water can cause damage to the wood (eg cracking, warping, discolouration)

Pens

Apart from changing the refill when the ink runs out (see my separate page about how to change the pen refills), my pens should need basically no maintenance,

If your pen needs to be cleaned for some reason, just use a damp cloth to wipe clean. Do not use acetone or nail polish remover as this will dissolve the finish on the pen, other harsh products (eg white spirit) can also cause damage to the finish

Bookmarks & Brooches

These shouldn't need any maintenance at all. If the finish wears over time, you can re-apply a "drying-oil" (e.g. linseed or walnut oil) and leave for a few days so it dries completely. Using a "non-drying oil" (eg olive or other vegetable oil) might stain your books or clothes.

Kitchen Utensils

With regular use and washing, the finish will wear over time. Do not soak in water for long periods, nor to put in the dishwasher, only to wash by hand. To refresh the finish, you can re-apply a "drying-oil" (e.g. linseed or walnut oil) and leave for a few days so it dries completely. If you use olive, coconut or other oil, over time these might cause mould to appear.
